Bicycle Works

Handcrafted TIG welded custom bicycle frames built to your specific fit requirements, needs, and goals from True temper OX Platinum steel, True Temper S3, and aluminum. My frames will inspire you to ride or race your best.

How is a custom bike better than a stock bike?

"...there are wonderful stock bikes on the market, but we can't forget that those bikes are made for nobody in particular and likely someone who has different goals, aspirations and physiology..."

Chris Soden, President, Master Bike Fitters Assoc.

  • Custom Bicycles - Fit and Ordering Process

I personally believe there is nothing more valuable than a proper fit, it is after all how you and the bike come together for a fluid ride.

The process begins with discussing your needs, riding style, and material choice. I have various methods for determining your proper fit and sizing needs, whether it comes from your own riding experience, me taking your measurements, a computerized fit analysis or a combination of these. If you have special needs or are searching for that extra watt, I work with two Bicycle Fit Specialists in Denver and Boulder who use advanced fitting systems.

When you're ready to begin the process contact me and I'll email you an easy to follow fit sheet. With your input I select the size, shape and thickness of tubing. I set my Anvil Journeyman fixture ( www.anvilbikes.com) to your specific fit numbers and the head tube and bottom bracket are machined to size. I miter the tubes, hand file the joints for an even tighter fit before deburring and washing the tubes one final time before I tack your tube set together and perform the final weld. If you choose, I will notify you when your frame goes into the fixture so you can stop in to inspect the fit before welding.

I require a $500 deposit at the time of order. Delivery time of the frame usually takes about 6 weeks from the time I receive your deposit. Having the finished frame custom painted or powder-coated can extend the delivery time depending on which option you select.  I have a full palette of colors from which you can select or you can request a custom paint design.

Feel free to call with any questions and current queue length, I’ll be the one answering the phone.

  • Prototypes

I work with a few customers to develop bicycle frame prototypes. I take designs from drawing board to working prototype. I have done this for several private individuals and companies on a time and material basis. I require an initial 50% deposit of estimated costs for this service and progress payments. I can build just the frame or the complete bike.

  • Production Frame Service

I also do a bit of "whore welding" as we call it. I build frames and forks for a few builders that are behind or need a little assist. These frames are built to each builder's own specs and have their logo on them. I furnish the TIG welded frame in bare metal, painted, or powder coated. From one at a time to 100 the frames receive the same level of craftmanship that I put into my own branded frames. I treat these projects with the level of confidentiality requested by each client. The cost depends on the number of frames ordered and the material. I require a 50% deposit upon ordering and the balance due at pickup or shipping. Please call me to discuss your specfic needs and delivery time frame.

If you are interested in a frame that I don't have listed here, please contact me to disscuss your needs.
